PLUS: Lets All Plant a Tree or Two
GM. This is Hosts Toast. We’re like a Tootsie Lollipop - satisfying, delicious, & we don’t make you work too hard to get to the center (i.e. the good stuff.)
And we’re back!… I’ve a lovelly and refreshing break, chasing the last of the summer sun all around Tenerife, staying in my favourite airbnb, right on the beach front in Adeje (anyone want the owners details then drop me an email)
Worst part of the trip was 6 hours in the sea trying to catch a fish and not getting a single bite … but getting very seasick instead!
Before I got very sea sick

2024 Travel Trends: Experiences Take Center Stage
In a world where travel marketing often revolves around selling traditional products like hotels and flights, a recent survey of 18,000 travelers has shed light on a profound shift in the preferences of globetrotters.
Americans seek a diverse array of activities
The survey in 15 countries, highlighted that experiences such as culinary exploration, concerts, art appreciation, and outdoor activities are playing an increasingly pivotal role in influencing travel decisions. While these preferences vary significantly across different nationalities, Americans rated a lot of activities equally, suggesting the diversity of our interests. For comparison, Japanese travelers ranked road trips higher than any other nationality, and people in Spain, France, and The Netherlands ranked sampling local cuisine as the highest importance.
Rising destinations
Destinations that successfully market unique and immersive experiences are poised to thrive in the travel recovery. In the US, many travelers are seeking either a tropical island escape or an urban adventure in a foreign culture. The top destinations for 2024 include the Cayman Islands, French Polynesia, Osaka, Tokyo, and more.
Travel vibes
The survey also identified the seven major types of travel that will be trending in 2024 and perhaps you’ve tried more than one of them. These include:
Gig travel, or traveling to see a musical artist
Main character energy, or traveling to like your favorite on-screen character
Destination zzzz, or participating in the rising sleep tourism trend
Budget bougie foodie, or traveling to try food across all price ranges
Analogue adventurers, AKA visiting remote destinations to disconnect from technology
Celebration vacationers who take trips to celebrate milestones
Lux-for-less travelers who like to be bougie on a budget
💡 Tips or Thought of the Day …
How About We All Plant a Tree for Every direct Booking we get?
Here’s my 5 reasons why it's a great idea to offer to plant a tree for each guest that books directly:
1. Environmental Responsibility: Planting a tree is an eco-friendly gesture that contributes positively to the environment. It helps offset carbon footprints, combats climate change, and fosters a greener planet. By offering this incentive, the host demonstrates a commitment to environmental responsibility, which can resonate with eco-conscious travelers.
2. Unique Selling Point: Amidst the numerous Airbnb listings, a host needs to stand out. Offering to plant a tree can serve as a unique selling point that differentiates the listing from others. It's not just another discount or freebie; it's a promise to make a positive impact on the planet on behalf of the guest.
3. Financial Benefits: When guests book directly, hosts avoid the commission fees charged by Airbnb. These saved costs can be partially reinvested in tree planting initiatives, which in the long run might be less than the commission fees. Thus, while the host is making an environmental contribution, they're also saving money.
4. Building Trust and Loyalty: By offering such a thoughtful gesture, hosts can build trust and loyalty among their guests. Guests are more likely to return to a host who not only provides a great stay but also values their input in making a positive change in the world.
5. Positive Reviews and Word-of-Mouth: Happy guests often leave glowing reviews, and a unique offering like tree planting can become a highlight in their feedback. Positive reviews can increase the visibility and attractiveness of the listing. Moreover, guests are likely to share their unique experience with friends and family, leading to word-of-mouth recommendations.
🛠This Week’s House-Keeping
Lets look at what you should be doing this week to prepare your Holiday Let for November & December:
Safety First: With the potential for candles or fairy lights, ensure all smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are functioning. Provide a fire extinguisher and clear safety instructions.
Kitchen Prep: If guests are likely to cook festive meals, make sure the kitchen is stocked with necessary utensils, pots, pans, and basic ingredients like salt, pepper, and cooking oil.
Flexible Booking & Cancellation Policies: Given the unpredictability of winter travel, consider offering flexible booking and cancellation policies to attract hesitant travelers.
By taking these steps in the autumn, you can ensure that your holiday let is not only ready for the next two months but also stands out as a top choice for potential guests! More tips next Wednesday, cant wait? ……
That’s all for today Toast Tribe, see you Friday when among other things I will review my week of Holiday Let hosting Hope you have a great day!
